Job Responsibilities
- Lead and oversee all phases of school construction projects from inception to completion.
- Develop and manage project budgets, ensuring cost-effectiveness and adherence to financial constraints.
- Coordinate with architects, engineers, contractors, and school district representatives to ensure alignment with project goals and specifications.
- Establish project timelines, monitor progress, and ensure timely completion of all construction activities.
- Conduct regular site visits to assess project progress, quality, and compliance with safety regulations.
- Resolve any issues or conflicts that arise during construction, maintaining open communication with all stakeholders.
- Prepare and present project reports, updates, and proposals to school board members and district officials.
- Ensure all construction activities comply with local, state, and federal regulations and building codes.
- Implement risk management strategies to identify and mitigate potential project risks.
- Supervise and mentor project management staff, providing guidance and support for professional development.
- Collaborate with procurement teams to source materials and negotiate contracts with vendors and subcontractors.
- Facilitate regular meetings with project teams to review progress, address challenges, and plan future activities.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architecture, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in construction project management, with at least 2 years in school or educational facility construction.
- Proven track record of managing large-scale construction projects from inception to completion.
- Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and legal regulations, especially in school construction.
- Excellent leadership and team management skills.
- Proficiency in construction project management software (e.g., Procore, MS Project, Primavera P6).
- Strong budgeting and financial management skills.
- Ability to effectively manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Exceptional communication and negotiation skills.
- Familiarity with safety standards and quality control procedures in construction.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with architects, engineers, contractors, and school district representatives.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to make informed decisions under pressure.
- Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to project sites as needed.
- Professional certification such as PMP, CCM, or equivalent is preferred.
- Knowledge of sustainable building practices and LEED accreditation is a plus.
